Step 1 Lifting the car in the air

Before draining the motor oil, start your car and let it run for a minute or two, this will warm up the motor oil and allow it to drain out smoothly. Under the vehicle, locate the oil pan and drain plug. Once you identify the drain plug, place the oil pan below. Loosen the drain plug with the socket wrench, turning it left. After loosening, remove the plug slowly by hand and let the motor oil drain out. Once the oil stream slows to a drip, reinstall the drain plug.
Depending on the make and model of your car your oil filter may be on the top or bottem of your engine. Identify it and turn it left to to unscrew it, Be sure to have a drain pan undr it to catch any old oil that comes out. Before you install your new filter be sure to check in the box your oil filter came in because it may come with a new O ring that you may need to install. Ensure to remove the old O ring before installing the new one, if you dont the filter will not seal fully and will cause a leak. When installing the new filter you ony need to twist it untill you cant get it tighter with your bare hands.
It’s now time to fill the engine with new motor oil, Find out which oil is right for your car. Loosen the oil-filler cap and pour your motor oil into the tank. Using a funnel will help you avoid spilling. When finished, replace the oil cap. Start your engine and run it for a minute to allow the new motor oil to circulate thoroughly. check the oil level useing the dipstick if all looks good your done.
